(Nasdaq-DAKT), unveiled the Infinity Series controller and added the Heavy-Duty series hoist to their line of five standard Classic hoists.

The new Infinity Series control system and Heavy-Duty model hoist reflects Vortek’s commitment to offering a high-end control solution for the most sophisticated and demanding stage projects conceived.

Vortek’s three other controllers, the S Series, M Series and Pro Series, are designed to move hoists of varying and appropriate speeds and capacities. “Although we have done many elaborate projects with our intuitive VAC® controller, the Infinity Series controller adds yet another element of functionality which brings the highest level of design flexibility to theater professionals worldwide, literally,” explained Dave Rossi, Vortek’s operations manager. The Infinity Series control system with its German recognized BGV-C1 and 61508 SIL-3 certifications, coupled with the Vortek line of motorized hoists, offers the most powerful, motorized rigging package available today.

After evaluating several potential control partners, Vortek engineers selected UNICAN, a German control company and industry leader for rigorous theatrical, performance-based control solutions. UNICAN has been responsible for successfully completing some of the largest and most complex theatrical control systems in the world.

Along with the controller, Vortek announced a new line of Heavy-Duty hoists to complement its standard Classicseries of hoists. With lifting capabilities up to 4,000 pounds and speeds up to 234 feet per minute, the new theatrical rigging hoists are high-capacity, high-speed hoists capable of variable configurations.

“We presented the new Vortek Infinity controller and the breadth of Vortek hoisting products at the 2009 LDI Conference in Orlando. Needless to say, the reaction was that of excitement and disbelief on all levels,” Rossi added.
